First Ever National Doctor Who Night Being Developed For October

On Wednesday, I issued a press release concerning the first ever national "Doctor Who Night", a special broadcast planned for October and aimed at the US public TV stations currently airing the series. It is still in the negotiations stage, although we are hopeful that it will go forward. The live special, titled Whovians Across America, would have two Doctor Who guests at WQED's studios in Pittsburgh picking their favorite episodes from their eras, while fans would vote for their own favorite episodes via an internet poll. It is being produced by T.J. Lubinsky (producer of Doo Wop 50, the most successful pledge program in PBS history), along with Dan Harris and Mark Woda. I have been asked to be the publicist for this special, and look forward to the challenge. Stay tuned for more information over the next few weeks as plans can be confirmed. If it all comes together, it should be an exciting night.
Looking at KBDI Denver's schedule this month, it appears that they have discontinued their Friday night reruns and gone to only airing 1 episode a week on Saturdays. We will know for certain when they send out their September schedule. This week, of course, they are skipping the show altogether due to pledge programming.
AUSTRALIA - The Olympics will create headaches for some Doctor Who fans this fall. The state of New South Wales will switch to Daylight Savings Time on August 27, two months before the rest of Australia. UKTV originates from Sydney in New South Wales, so viewers in other states may need to compensate for the different time zone until the rest of Australia goes to Daylight Savings in late October. Also, the episode on August 28 (Day of the Daleks episode 3 will air at 11:45PM AEDT instead of 11:30, due to prime time programming running longer than normal.
NEW ZEALAND - Prime TV will move Doctor Who's start time from 6:25PM to 6:30PM effective August 27. The show will still air 6 days a week.
